In almost constant operation as a cinema house for over 70 years, the Rio Grande Theatre is the performance venue and home of the Dona Ana Arts Council since it was renovated and reopened in 2005. Completely refurbished as a 422-seat, state-of-the-art performing arts facility in the heart of downtown Las Cruces, it is used for Arts Council sponsored events, and is rented by other groups for performances.

Film series, literary events, Every second Wednesday free performances, and special lectures are also a regular occurrence at the Rio Grande Theatre.
The only remaining two-story adobe theatre in the country, the Rio Grande Theatre is once again a focal point of history as the jewel in the crown of downtown Las Cruces’ revitalization.
