Missoula Children’s Theatre

The Doña Ana Arts Council is proud to continue its tradition of bringing the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) to Las Cruces.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre is now set for June 26 – July 1, 2017. The open auditions will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 27 at the Rio Grande Theatre. The show title this year is The Jungle Book.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years and will visit nearly 1200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor / Directors. A tour team will arrive in Las Cruces with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play—except the cast.
The team holds open auditions where students come for the entire audition time of 10:00 AM-noon. They cast 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week with not all students participating in all rehearsals. There are two public performances of the production on Friday night and Saturday morning in the Rio Grande Theatre. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairy tales. MCT’s mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.
No advance preparation is necessary expect that all participants should just be ready to come and have a good time. Please remember everyone must stay the entire two hours of the audition.
