(July 6—July 11, 2015)
The Doña Ana Arts Council is proud to continue its tradition of bringing Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) to Las Cruces.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre is now set for July 6—July 11, 2015. The open auditions will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 6 at the Rio Grande Theatre. The performances will be on Friday, July 10 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, July 11 at 11:00 AM. The show title this year is Red Riding Hood.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years and will visit nearly 1200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/ Directors. A tour team will arrive in Las Cruces with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play—except the cast.
The team holds open auditions and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented on Friday night and Saturday afternoon in the Rio Grande Theatre. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairy tales. MCT’s mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.
No advance preparation is necessary except that all participants should just be ready to come and have a good time. Please remember everyone must stay the entire two hours of the audition.
