Nolan Winkler began her painting career in California in the 1960s. She paints today in her studio in Hillsboro, New Mexico.
She has won numerous artist in resident fellowships across the country. Some have been: Dorland Mt. Art Colony, Temecula, CA; Virginia Center for the Arts in Sweet Briar, VA; Montalvo Center for the Arts in Saratoga, CA; and one in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, MX.
Nolan has also been schooled in art in Italy and California, Arizona, and the Santa Fe Institute for Fine Arts where she won a scholarship to work under master printmaker, Garner Tullis and another with painter, Nathan Oliveira. Awarded by Wayne Thiebaud.
She has won a CA Arts Grant and has given talks and slide shows at the Univ. of the Pacific; the Preston Center for Contemporary Arts; New Mexico Southern University; the Las Cruces Museum of Fine Arts, and has exhibited in numerous solo shows around the country.
Her paintings, drawings, and monotypes are in collections of the Governor’s Collection in the Santa Fe Round House; Lt. Gov. Diane and Herb Denish; internationally known artist, Sol, and Carolyn LeWitt; Sen. P. Johnston, CA; The Four Seasons Hotels and Spas; Hilton Hotels and many more throughout the world.
