Description
The Doña Ana Arts Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico by ensuring that the performing, visual, and literary arts are an integral part of education, economic growth, and community development.
Among the many programs offered by the Arts Council are the Opera Storytellers Camp with the Santa Fe Opera in which students from 3rd to 12th grades write and perform an original opera, Missoula Children’s Theatre, a week-long theatre ex-perience open to all children ages 5-18 in the community; Youth At Risk / Artists in Residency at La Casa Shelter for Domestic Violence, in which local artists conduct free weekly art workshops for children living at the shelter; Career Art Path (CAP), in which 40 middle school children spend two weeks getting first-hand knowledge of the arts; Kennedy Center Partners in Education, working with the Las Cruces Public Schools to provide professional development for teachers and increased student access to the arts; and many more programs throughout each year.
In addition, the Arts Council sponsors such regularly attended events as the Las Cruces Art Fair, the Renaissance ArtsFaire, and the Annual Community Arts Awards. None of this would be possible, however, without generous donations from sponsors and people like you. To those who have donated time, money, or goods & services, and to those who continue to give, we thank you.
