This two-day art workshop in water based mixed media will be taught by Nancy Begin and her sister, Susan Hanssen. Both Nancy and Susan are accomplished artists and teachers. Below are short biographies.

Nancy Frost Begin NWS
Nancy Frost Begin, a watercolor artist, printmaker, crafter of contemporary folk art, and oil painter is part of an artistic family hailing from Buffalo, New York. Nancy is inspired by a quote from Pablo Picasso, “I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.” Following graduation from Syracuse University with a BFA, Nancy has expressed herself through many diverse artistic pursuits including illustration, fiber, clay, painting and wood. She taught studio art and art history in New Hampshire. Nancy now lives with her family in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and is well know for her watercolors, oils, woodcut prints and whimsical Monster Boxes.
Susan Hanssen NWS, AWS
Susan Hanssen has been an award winning painter for several years and she is well-known in south Florida for her unique and exciting work. In 2008, seventeen paintings from her striking “Sheep Series” were exhibited at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society and the Florida Watercolor Society. She taught painting for twelve years at the Boca Raton Musuem School and continues to teach workshops in Florida and New Mexico.
Prior to pursuing her dream of painting, Susan began a highly successful career in advertising after graduating from Syracuse University. Her experience has included twelve years in New York at JWT and Lintas Worldwide, followed by eighteen years in Denver and Dallas at various agencies.
