Nineteenth Century Art will explore the exceptional change in visual arts during the 19th century

Course Description:  Kathleen Key added this new course, Nineteenth Century Art, to cover some of the world’s greatest artists who lived and worked in the nineteenth century, making it one of the most prolific time periods in art.   The series will run six consecutive Friday afternoons from May 15 through June 19 from 1:30 – 3 p.m.    Students may join at any time in the series.

According to Key, “Nineteenth Century Art is a wonderful overview of some of the greatest artists who ever lived, including Claude Monet, Eugene Delacroix, Jacques-Louis David, Gustave Courbet, Gustav Klimt, Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, Vincent van Gogh, John Singer Sargent, and Pablo Picasso.  They all played a role in making nineteenth century art exceptional and ushered in twentieth century modern art. Join us for six weeks of fun, inspiring, uplifting art.”  The five great periods of art covered in this series will be one lecture each on Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism and two lectures on Post-Impressionism.  The series will be held via Zoom on six consecutive Fridays:   May 15, 22, 29 and June 5, 12 and 19 from 1:30 – 3 p.m.

All DAAC on-line classes are offered via the video meeting application Zoom so that participants may ask questions and interact with the teachers and other students.  Meeting IDs, passwords, and waiting room options are implemented for each Zoom session.
